Camellias by Michael Battley
I am a great fan of Peter Graham’s use of rich colour in his still-life oil paintings and I have built up a collection of 15 Artist/Leisure Painter magazines going back to 2000 featuring his work. So, this week at the art club I set up a colourful arrangement and gave each member a magazine to inspire them whilst they tried to be as brave with the colour. This is my painting done on the night in 90 minutes – not as loose as Peter Graham’s work and I didn’t get time to complete the grapes, but I like it nevertheless.
