Thanks all - Stephen - yes I do add colour sometimes - but not when presented in this way. I use mountbard for the image and to achieve the 3D effect, However montboard has not been sized and doesn't take colour all that easily - I need to be able to fade the colour out to suit the minimalist style but once applied watercolour soaks straight in and stains - it can be done but not that easily and you always run the risk of spoiling the drawing - I could try with pencils but don't think I would get the desired effect and am not a lover of coloured pencils anyway
