This painting has a very soothing and peaceful feel,with a beautifully painted atmospheric sky. Also - thanks very much Michael for your helpful comment on the Winter Silver Birches - you are so right about the red splodge, it needs to move over a bit to where the eye would naturally go and I'll do this. It's so obvious really but sometimes you just don't see it yourself when you get too involved with painting the scene.

Lovely muted tones Michael, the sky is gorgeous and the way you have taken it down into the water has a very calming effect.

A 'quickie' ? It's serene, the colours are so gentle and it's painted with real understanding of how watercolours work - I love it Michael!

Thanks Jane. Well a quicky because it didn't take all that long - about 40mins (apart from a trip indoors for a coffee) - not all that much detail and no sketching out except for a bit of penwork afterwards to add some highlights.

Beautiful painting, of the best time of day - and it so clearly IS early morning.

The sky is definitely the star here! A lovely simple approach with an excellent result. I tend to labour a bit with my skies but thanks for your comments.

Almost missed this one in my catching up, Michael! Glad I didn't - it's an excellent piece - good clear washes and lovely, sunny atmosphere. It's quite stunning!

Michael,are you aware Lionels original was based on some of my work?

Stephen I wasn't aware of this and having just looked at your gallery I am really impressed and can see the inspiration. For anyone who hasn't looked at Stephens work I would highly rscommend it - a most inspirational and accomplished gallery of work
