It more than just "works", Michael - it packs quite a punch! Love the lines and marks - they're very lively and give the whole sketch a very lively feel.

This works very well Michael, the very dense, black line contrasts with the stark white of the paper. It will be intersting to see how it looks with a few washes added. It reminds me a little of those old Japanese drawings.

Lovely work. I like the unpredictable thickness of the lines when a twig or 'match-stick' is used.

A lovely spontaneous sketch Michael, free and textured.

I agree with everyone, lovely sketch

Can't add much more to the above remarks - lovely sketch

Thanks all for youe kind comments - if only all pictures could be produced in a couple of minutes

Stephen - this is the drawing I referred to yesterday. It was done as a demonstration a few days ago and only took a couple of minutes - it was never intended as a serious piece but since it seems to have worked I may add a few more ink marks and a watercolour wash - should turn out OK. I like useing a twig as a drawing tool - because it's not as sharp as, say, a matchstick and it forces you to be even more free and loose - I love just scrubbing the implement on the paper and getting a series of lovely black marks. If I use this method to draw buildings I do first lightly sketch the outlines to make sure that perspective etc is OK before plunging in with the twig.
