Can't quite see why one would park a boat on a road, but as long as it happens, and you keep sketching it, I'm happy. I would never have thought of grey green clouds, but the whole thing hangs together on the subtle greens.

Thanks Ibolya and Tony for your kind comments - Who said it's a road? :) Actually it is but the shore is just in front. I have a surrealist painting by John Voss in my dressing room which features a boat floating inside a living room with a light fitting dangling above it - a fabulous work which I was honoured to receive from the artist.

Something really clean and appealling about you sketches Michael. They're also very skilfully done.

Lovely sketch Michael, love the light pallette, great 😃

Nice sketch Michael and the composition and colour makes it more interesting

Yes Michael beautiful nothing like a photograph

Your work always has a feel of crispness never muddied. Another fine sketch.

Like the way you have used the washes for this fresh feel.

Yes the composition is a very strong one Michael. But I wonder why you have gone for a weak colour scheme?

I have read through the comments. Some amusing comments and replies. I am sure I will get the logical answer.

Super little sketch Michael. I'm pretty sure you know but others here might not..the water soluble pens aren't light fast. Over time, they fade to nothing :(

Lovely sketch Michael, so what it's a big post! :)

A great sketch, Michael.

Smashing sketch Michael.

Too many to thank individually but I do much appreciate all your kind words.

John - regarding the colour scheme - well this was only a sketch and I didn't want to put too much colour on as this would take over from the pen work distracting from both the pen marks and the ink bleed. Also of course I wanted to keep it light and fresh.

Louise - Yes the ink will probably fade with time but it was more of an exercise and never intended for framing so not really a concern - thanks for your kind words.

But the way that the water soluble pen lines merge and run with the watercolour looks really effective . Such a shame that it eventually fades as I've learned myself :)

But at least I've got a permanent image ont' computer - until it crashes :)

Very much a quickie and I know the post is a bit out of proportion but I don't care - more concerned with composition than with irrelevant matters like representational accuracy - so there lol
