A sort of ethereal quality Michael.

I like it, Michael.

Very effective and interesting. Like it.

Thanks Sylvia, Ellen and Andre I'm still very much experimenting with different mediums (this one is done with oils) paper and marking techniques - this was more me playing around rather than attempting to produce a work of art but it does look god with a mount - better than it does on screen.

Love the lines fanning out Michael, great marks and colours.

Caught my eye, very interesting. The diagonal coloured lines remind me of a craze from decades ago called (if I remember rightly) something like Pick up Sticks. You had these coloured plastic sticks, held them in a bunch and let them fall, and then tried to pick up each one without moving any of the others, using the one black stick to flick them loose. Hadn't thought of that game in years.

Looks like a modern tartan fabric with a twist, Michael! You are so good with all kinds of experiments, I'm still doing the glue ones which are quite fascinating.

That is where magic lies Michael finding

Ah - thanks so much to you all - I'll post one tomorrow that really was intended as a work rather than a practice piece.

This is interesting, Michael. The great thing about abstracts is that everyone sees something different in them - at first glance this reminded me of a windscreen wiper in slow motion! Looking more closely I agree with Satu, it has a tartan feel to it.

Thanks Jenny - I said above it was in oil - to be precise it was done with oil blocks - ideal for this sort of work but can't see any advantage in them for more conventional work.

This is really interesting Michael, and very effective. It shouts tartan to me.

I like this design, Michael

I like this kind of experimenting, you never know what you will get. Nice one Michael.

Thanks so much Margaret, Gudren, Maureen and Fiona - I love the results of this type of printing - I've included it in a couple of demonstrations recently and it's gone down very well - the beauty is you don't need any equipment other than what most artists already have in their 'collection'.

Very cleverly designed, the background looks like a tartan plaid,

Playing around with monotypes at the moment and getting some great marks as in this simple abstract.
