Nice work Mia. Love the colours and pencil marks.

The water certainly is gushing and splashing down the hill!

It's excellent Mia, a very effective pencil and wash, it works really well. I like the detail on the rocks in the foreground and the lovely subtle colour palette. The autumnal tree on the right hand side is an interesting focal point.

gorgeous bright painting Mia

Wonderful sense of space Mia. An interesting formula and it works so well.

Thank you very much Avril, Gudrun, Christine, Sandy and Fiona for your positive comments. I enjoy this technique very much.

Super work Mia. Have you tried the soluble graphite pencil such as Gretacolor Aqua Monolith, not with watercolour obviously as it would muddy the colours but just for sketching ?

Thank you very much for your comment, Val. Yes, I tried the soluble graphite pencils, but they are not as black as the Conte Pierre Noire! Depending on the subject, I use both on different occasions.

It could on be 'a Mia'! Beautifully done with your light touch and great way with a limited palette.

Thank you very much, Thea. I always appreciate your positive comments.

Mia, you kindly commented on my teacups painting. However, it really was a dire photo of the painting so I deleted it so that I could do a better one. I have such a problem making the white paper look white rather than grey in the image I produce and that was the problem with the image I posted. I shall put your kind comment when I re-post it tomorrow.

A splendid piece, Mia! And I love the fact that it has your inimitable style all over it. You've made it truly yours, and I love your use of subtle hues and delicate lines. That rumbling river is absolutely stunning! Thank you too for your very kind comment on my painting.

Having several books by David Bellamy, I was inspired by one of his paintings to try out my 'new technique': pencil and wash. I hope I am not doing anything wrong about copyright law, but I do mention his name and the work is not for sale. I made my own version of it. I made the drawing with a pencil 2B, added the watercolour and finally, using a Conte pencil Pierre Noire, I finished the details. All comments are very welcome. Thanks :) Mia
