Wow, Mia you have to paint it!

I will, "but not tonight, Josephine" (LOL), I am too tired!

What an incredible building and with such a history behind it. I haven't painted now for 3 months but I think I might just get them out for this. Thank you so much for the offer of the photo.

Oh, Mia! When I first saw the small thumbnail, the first thing I thought was this is such a paintable subject! You MUST have a go. It's something that will suit your style perfectly! Thank you too for so generously opening the field to the use of your photo. Not sure I would have the courage to try it (I'm terrible with perspectives), but you've certainly inspired me! Have a wonderful opening and exhibition!

This is a beautiful building Mia - too much of a challenge for me!. I have just returned from a wonderful break in our beloved Veurne. Fantastic weather, good food, cycling - AND - we were lucky enough to reserve beer from St Sixtus. As always I came home relaxed and refreshed.

Thank you so very much for your lovely comments and good wishes, Diana, Larry, Seok and Helen. Because this is already on page 9 or 10, I will keep you informed on my Blog "Mia". The picture is also in the "Copyright Free Gallery". Helen, you really made me jealous with your trip to Veurne, I love the place. Enjoy "the best beer in the world"!!!

Mia - only just spotted thid one - missed it first time round - have printed it off and will have a go sometime and post the result - but it may not be until after christmas

Hi Michael, I am really looking forward to see your posting. I also will give it a go as soon as possible.

Mia - progress report - have just drawn it up - the lateral perspective was no problem but have chosen to ignore the vertical perspective - I felt it wouldn't look quite right but had a bit of a job correcting it from the reference photo. Will probably only hint at the buildings to the rear as I don't want them to dominate. I do have some free time next week and hope to make a start but don't know when I will get it finished as I have a few other projects on the go plus some teaching - hope I do it justice

Good luck, Michael!! You are right about the buildings to the rear, the focal point is the Hall. I will try it myself in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your kind comments against my latest posting 'Coffee Stop Salamanca'. A brief up-date - hope to finish my painting of this lovely building tomorrow morning - and will post soon thereafter - how's that for confidence - now I'm getting worried !!

This morning, before the opening, I took a picture of the outside of this stunning building. I had to be quick to avoid people walking in front of it. The building in its actual state is from 1680. Before that, in the 14th Century, there was another town hall on the same place but it burned down and had to be rebuild. During the years there were lots of restaurations and it was our Town Hall until 1953. After that, they used it as a location for the Music School (where I had violin lessons for 4 years). When it was too small, because of too many students, the City Council decided to allow the local and other artists to use it as an exhibition hall. This is a copyright free picture, so feel free to give it a go and make a drawing or painting of it!!!! Like Robert Jones, I challenge you...
