A sketch full of interest Matthew. Lots of things to take the eye around and I do love your choice of washes. Sometimes sketches are successful when we don't feel too much pressure - the watercolour paper might have inhibited you, who knows? Anyway, you must be very pleased with this.

Both interesting and pleasing to the eye - good use of linework and the simplest of washes make this.

Thank you for your kind comments. The most important thing is that I enjoyed painting it.

I think this is a fantastic drawing Matthew. I like your pen and ink style. The soft colours compliments the whole sketch. Oddly enough I have a friend who sometimes plays music in this cafe/bar.

Loely spontaneous sketch. Have you discovered Urban Sketchers???

It is a smashing drawing and use of tones, well done for capturing it on the spot and such detail

A consumate work Matthew you were on fine visual form here with broad vision and clarity. Terrific

This is fabulous Matthew - just my cup-of-tea, and lovely subtle palette.

Thanks for the comment on Scruff dog Matthew. It was appreciated with tears as Scruffo died last September. Pleased you are part of U S we have an embryo group here in north Wales.

Great sketch - love the dynamic lines and your gentle washes.

I agree 100% with the above comments: stunning!

Watercolour and pen sketch done today whilst sitting in this small cafe/bar next to Kew Gardens station. transparent watercolour, alcohol based indelible pen and cartridge paper; once I had got half way through I wished I had started on watercolour paper! Lovely bright day, but not warm enough for painting outside sadly.
