Very atmospheric, Martin, especially if you know it as I do. I am intrigued by your hopping around the UK in your pictures. Do you travel and photograph all the sites?

I too like this piece......

Love the colours, the texture....dramatic!

Fabulous texture in this - don't think I know the area, it's a long time since I was in Wales; but I can certainly feel it.

I love this. A very strong painting. I've been in that tiny chapel with the Ogham script on the walls but couldn't get down the steep path to the beach.

Well thank you all very much! Sian - I prefer to paint plein-air, but this just isn't possible all the time, so I always take a camera wherever I go, take sketches and notes too. I allow all these to ferment in my head until suddenly I'll get an idea and produce a painting from them at home. I'm very interested in old churches, so I'm looking through lots of books and information for ideas. When the better weather returns I will be back out painting plein-air when I can!

Mwnt is a tiny coastal community in Ceredigion, Wales, dominated by steep cliffs rising to a prominent conical-shaped hill. Sheltering in the lee of this hill is the tiny Church of the Holy Cross, or Eglwys y Grog. Thought to be either a pilgrim's church for those making the trek to Bardsey Island, or a sailor's chapel of ease, the building dates from the 14th century, although the site is believed to date back to the sixth century. Ink wash and gouache on acrylic gesso-primed.
