I like the textures in this; remembering the castle from a visit to Wales many years ago, I think you could have added a lot more - but if you had, you wouldn't have achieved this degree of impact. Like the way you've overshot the castle walls with colour, exploited back-runs in the sky, and am particularly drawn to that area of the left foreground, with its effective suggestion of low-growing shrubs and the fusing of the green and black - VERY well judged.

Oh I agree with Robert...great impact here. Vigorous painting with expressive line work. Quite striking.

Dolwyddelan Castle near Betws-y-coed. This is s very striking ruin commanding a wonderful position on top of a ridge with stunning panoramic views of Moel Siabod. Dolwyddelan stands alone in a country of castles as it was built about 1210AD by the Welsh princes, not by English or Norman forces. Painted on the spot in mixed media on 230gsm watercolour paper.
