The thing with portraits is just one stroke in the wrong position whether by brush or pencil and it looks like it could be a different person to the one on the portrait I have spent many a frustrating time trying to achieve a likeness and then having to paint part of the face out or start again completely. An excellent portrait of the young girl and Anastasia looks very much like my granddaughter with almost the same colour of hair and I would think she would be about the same age, also she has the same name as you Maria. eaves.

Dear Maria, An excellent picture of The Boating Party by Auguste Renoir, A few years ago I went down to London to see the original painting on exhibition I think it was at the Hayward Gallery on the south bank. The painting was on loan from the Phillips Collection Washington, U S A. I have a great feeling for the Impressionist movement in painting I copied a painting some time ago by one of the earliest of the impressionists Jongkind he was dutch by birth and I did the painting to the exact size of the original and measured everything out to the millimetre as I wanted to try and understand more of their techniques and brush strokes . I will dig the painting out and upload it ,but once again a great painting of Renoirs boating party. eaves.

Thanks for your very nice comments Eaves . The girl is 11 years old. She is my husband's niece. As for renoua is one of my favorite. You are very lucky that you saw this exhibition.

I can't help to look at your painting again and again, it is so vivid, soft with special aura.
