Rains coming

A lovely painting which gives a real idea of the atmosphere around the Northumbrian coast. I particularly like the foreground (an area I struggle with), which has a soft and effective blend of colours. A worthy addition to the legacy of The ( famous ) Pitmen Painters! I didn't know there was still a colliery working last year in the area. You may like to check out a book called The Art of Mining, Thomas Hair's Watercolours of the Great Northern Coalfield. It was published by Tyne Bridge Publishing in 2000. I picked up an ex library copy of it, I think through World of Books, for a couple of ££. Worth a look.
