Love the hint of bluebells Malcolm, wonderful detail.

A very effective watercolour, with good drawing and superb skills at colour mixing - having seen a number of watercolours recently (not here! ) on which the colour was greyed and washed-out, this has desaturated but powerful colour that perfectly represents the time of year and place; those cunning touches of light on dark/dark on light work particularly well. If I were a modern critic, I'd say that there was no sign of the 21st century, and this could have been painted by a Victorian artist - but I'm not. That's what we call "timeless", chaps - you might think it would be improved by a range of pylons and a couple of youths careering down the hill on quad bikes, but if you do, YOU go and paint it.

Congratulations, Malcolm you have achieved this view (I failed when I tried it). Beautifully done and as Robert said, you have given it a timeless quality.

A beautiful fresh watercolour, Malcolm. The dashes of blue accentuate and bring alive the whole painting. Lovely work.

Marvellous Watercolour Malcolm, quality always attracts!

Beautiful, atmospheric and delicate.

A very lovely piece Malcolm.

Thanks everyone for your comments- much appreciated. I will have to put my 21-st century hat on for my next painting. This area is a nature reserve with no pylons and the East Coast Main Line is obscured by the trees. Although I have missed out all the cranes and the bandage on the Cathedral central tower- Durham is having a facelift at the moment- work everywhere.

Lovely watercolour Malcolm, I like the soft, subdued feel you have created.
