I bet you were freezing Malcolm! Great shades in the snow. There are quite a few of these millstones scattered around aren't there?

Thanks Carole, yes there are quite a few, it tends to be the single ones or partially finished ones that attract me, they are a moment frozen in time when the industry stopped because of the importing of cheaper French millstones, yes it was cold but even though I do not drink it, a little gin in your painting water acts a bit like antifreeze.

You are very good at injecting that feeling of coldness in your snow scenes Malcolm. It's looks as though we may use a similar palette. Great shadows in this.

Thanks again Fiona, re the palette quite possibly.

Love the shadows and again a feeling of isolation. Great composition.

Again, thanks Richard much appreciated.

I called this ressurected because even though it is of a millstone up on the tops above Millstone Edge in the Peak District, I had actually cut it up for use as scrap paper and found the two halves when I was looking for another painting I thought I had lost by accident, so I stuck it with tape and gave it light of day, I remember freezing the day I sat painting this at Millstone.
