Ah bless! What a beautiful cat and as ever a superb painting. Also congratulations Marilyn on your recent picture of the month inclusion in the Artist magazine: well deserved. Whilst most teachers etc are encouraging “loosening up” in painting there’s still great skill in realism and basic drawing, and for most of us a happy medium somewhere!

This painting is of a friend’s cat who sadly died of cancer at a very young age. Her human “parents” were distraught and wanted a painting to remember her by. How could I refuse? The composition is a little odd but it was painted from a photograph and there are very few remaining.
