Well burning the midnight oil has worked really well Mike, another good one (really like the colour of the sky)

I really like this, what a wild tree and atmosphere.

That sky looks so full of trouble to come , a brilliant painting, hope you managed to get a few hours kip .

Full of movement and drama Mike. I love those eerie sky colours creating such a strong atmosphere.

Gorgeous use of various yellows in the sky and loose treatment of the foreground. Works really well, Mike

I love this, Mike. That tree is fab.

Looks spooky, Mike. I like your sky palette.

Lovely spooky tree Mike, I like the sky colour.

My thanks for the kind remarks and encouragement - as always , greatly appreciated. - and yes , I was up at 07.30 hours - well when one is old and decrepit , sleep isn't so essential - or so I have been told !!!

I really like the moonlit look Mike. You can make out the detail of the land although it’s obviously dark. I keep looking at beautiful trees and thinking I should be able to paint them, but my branches don’t look right and are so complex! You’ve cracked it here. Well done. Now have a nap!

Tessa , I have matchsticks cut at a 45 degree angle that are used greatly. The ink work is predominantly by use of these matchsticks. There is a standard size -2 mm and the jumbo at 3mm square. These are carried in a knarly old piece of bamboo - as the "pen holder". The top end is cut to a 45 degree angle which gives either a "square block" to apply ink - or the "sharp edge" for line work - as in all the fine branches seen on the tree.
