Living in the original Plymouth, I had to visit New Plymouth on one of my trips to NZ and of course saw Mt Taranaki. I also remember the red lichen. I had not seen it before and had to go up close to see what it was. Red algae has now taken hold over here on walls etc. I'm not sure if it is the same, but the world seems to be gradually turning red! Thanks for the reminder and a look of your fine painting.

Mount Taranaki ,in a National park of the same name, a dormant volcano last erupted in 1854, 2518 metres high (have been up to the top twice in my younger days) overlooks New Plymouth and has a well known Rhododendron park on its flanks. Dairy country.
