Tongarporutu on the west coast of the North Island and home to the "Three Sisters" well actually only two now with the Tasman sea accounting for the third. However , with genuine remorse it is engaged in carving out yet another "third" sister to join the others. Accessible only with a receding tide , this is an area of great appeal black iron sand beach, carved , colourful , rock formations including sea caves , appealing colours . the dormant cone of Mount Taranaki aka Egmont standing in the back ground adds up to worthwhile painting material. I certainly made the most of my time there.
