Nicholas & Clover

Below commentary is supposed to read......but I have loved drawing and painting them.

They are a lovely duo

They are beautiful Lynne and they look so content. I know how you feel about keeping caged birds, I rescued a baby house sparrow with the intention of releasing her. In the end she lived with me for 12 years because she couldn’t fly…..she had a cage but she had the freedom to come and go as she pleased. She would return to her cage to roost and when she felt vulnerable……it was her safe place. Love their names.

Thank you Petra, Heather, Fiona, Spencer. Your comments are up lifting. Fiona, you must be good at healing, nurturing birds for your wounded sparrow to live 12 years! Way to go. I wanted my finches to have "real" sun on my deck. When I put them outside on a table one summer day, a hawk attacked Nicholas on his haunch with his talon through the cage bars. My Bichon barked furiously and alerted me. I held Nicholas still while my vet sewed his tiny tear and saved him.

Beautiful work! Lovely feeling showing in the painting too!

I’m glad you were able to save your wee Nicholas, he must have been terrified. My sparrow (Spuggs) didn’t like to go out, even if I left the patio door open she would only go as far as the threshold. On many occasions a sparrow hawk has collided with glass trying to get to her…..serves it right! 🤭

Thank you for your comments, Corl and Romila!

My two Society Finches painted a few years ago. I feel guilty keeping birds in a cage, but I have drawing and painting them.
