Hi I cant say if the pastel is better than the water colour as i havent seen the latter, but I do like this painting. As you say it is all about the shadows and you have given them their full importance. It is very impressive - well done!

This painting is not about the trees!. It is about the shadows the trees make on the ground. I first did this as a watercolour and then as a pastel. It works better as a pastel. What do you think?
