It just goes to show that you can pare a subject down to the basics and still convey the scene and atmosphere very eloquently. You are far more skilled (and brave) than me - I would make a right mess of it if I tried this level of simplicity!

Very 'edgy' Louise, the black shadow on the left of my picture almost looks like a cat - intriguing !

Thanks Thea and Debs. This was painted perhaps rather too quickly and Debs, I see the cat! I shall remove his ears. lol. Actually now I look at it again, fresh eyes and all that, I might alter the whole painting, darken the too blue sky and add a little more detail.. Nothing ventured nothing gained!

Simplicity at its best, Louise - love the broad bold washes and the interlocking shapes.

I rather like the idea of an elongated shadow of a black cat stealthily making it's way along the street. Now THAT really adds atmosphere!
