Stunning. I love your style, and would love to understand the thought processes involved from the original idea to the finished work. What do you start with?

Bright, cheerful and distictively your style, Louise - it brought a smile to my face at the thought of spring on the way. A real delight!

Thank you Lynne and Jane. Lynne, that's a tricky question as I'm not sure myself about my thought processes! My background is in textile design which explains the design element of my paintings. To actually paint a watercolour like this one, once I've put in the sky and background hills I just apply washes of colour and I work the flower shapes in to the shapes formed by the initial washes. I used masking fluid here for the small flowers. I only have a vague idea of how it might end up and often I use totally different colours to the ones that I'd planned to use at the outset.

Fantastic painting Louise, great composition and colours

So I detect a slight change of palette? I love it.

I agree with the above comments, Louise. I, too, love this painting. I also find your description fascinating. Like you, I am sometimes not sure how a painting will progress. Anyway, I love your work and your distinctive style.

I love the clean, fresh acid tones of this painting. Definitely very Spring like and full of emerging new life. The addition of the pale blue flowers with the slightly darker one right in the foreground provides a superb compliment to the green and yellow tones. A very striking painting.

Many thanks Petra, Michael, Lionel and Thea.

This shouts out Spring, wish it would hurry up! Gorgeous Louise.

Thought I spotted this yesterday without a title, it had disappeared when I went back to comment...good to see it again with such an appropriate title :) Wonderfully warm palette!

Thanks Carole and Lesley. Lesley, that's exactly what happened. I thought that too many of my postings were called 'untitled'. A suitable name was suggested to me which I gratefully latched on to and quickly reposted with it's new name. I'd hoped that no one would notice :)

Fresh and zingy! I love how you put your compositions together. Beautiful

So fresh and sunny and I love your design of the flowers in the foreground heralding the new growth of spring. One of my favourite of yours I think.

Stunning Louise, love your change of colours.

Thanks Sarah, Val and Fiona.

You're so very versatile, Louise - not only in the style and content of your painting but also your palette. I love this gorgeous combination of cool greens and blues and warm yellows and turquoise, as well as the way the flowers in the foreground lead the eye into the painting. It's super!

I just spotted this one and some others that I have not commented on. I love the pale but at the same time bright colours here and the light is fantastic. Your gallery is so good and it is a plaisure to go through it.

Many thanks Seok and Satu. I do appreciate your comments!

I have really enjoyed looking through your portfolio. Lovely!

Congratulations Louise on being a runner up in the Best of British competition with this lovely bright painting and not a union jack in sight LOL. I did say it was a favourite of mine :)

Congratulations Louise from me too!!

Thank you Jacqueline, Val, and Satu. Val, if only I'd had the forethought to add a union jack..LOL
