Wow, Louise! This is one of my favourite techniques!!!! Beautiful, I love it!!!

Thanks Mia, I know you like pen and wash. It's a technique you're so good at.

I thought it may have been tetley cos you get an OOOOH with Tetley Louise! :-) But you stick with your posh coff - it works wonders! x

oops is it typhoo u get an oooh with???

I like this, Louise. You try something new, and it is very good. Am I right, I think you also have fun?

This is so good, love those spikey twiggy trees. Good tones.( love that coffee too haha)

James, Can't possibly remember with me being so young at the time??!

Carol, thanks. the black ink was actually applied with a sharpened twig. That's why the branches are so uneven and scratchy looking. It is only a small work, I was trying the technique. Think the twig worked quite well.! Also. the wash is ink, not watercolour (or coffee!)

Ping, thanks. It's good to try different materials even twigs!

Lousie, this is exquisite! I love the tones, the looseness and the way you make it look so easy (which I know it is not!)

I was intending just a flying visit today, to have a quick look at the gallery before getting on with something infinitely drearier; but having seen this had to log in: this drawing belongs on a book cover - oddly enough, I received the annual catalogue from the Enitharmon Press today, which produces chiefly poetry but some fiction, well-bound and with inventive cover designs - this would sit very well with some of their collections ... it's direct and idiosyncratic, as is the writing they publish.

You must try another one, this is sooo good.

Interesting idea Robert, thanks.

You've inspired me to have a go with a sharpened twig as my attempts at trees always makes them look so wooden (no pun intended) Love the freedom of this, so simple, by which I don't mean easy, yet so efective.

Hi Louise, thank you for your encouraging comments on my re-worked picture, I've left a comment on it, if you have time to look. Thanks again, Fiona

Terrific , I love pen and wash but haven't indulged myself for a while, I may just go and buy some sepia ink tomorrow.
