30 min challenge!

30 min challenge!
Comments

Well - if that's what you can produce in 30 minutes I am giving up painting and taking up knitting!!! It's lovely, really spontaneous and fresh. It is fun as a challenge, isn't it? I think we need to throw down to gauntlet to a few more of the regulars - what do you think??

Well done. A great picture :)

I can do an oil in 30 minutes; not so sure about acrylic - you'd have thought it would be easier, but it isn't. What I don't think I could do is a watercolour - not if you take into account the time it takes for a wash to dry: and I get too nervous about backruns and bleeds at this stage in my development to be entirely keen on working completely wet in wet. However, a challenge is a challenge - I shall have a bash. It won't be as good as this, that I know already!

Wow - Louise this is lovely - I will have a go at something after I have finished the one I am doing at the moment. Thea has certainly started something to wake us up - pressure!!!!

Thanks Thea, Sarah, Robert and Glennis. I'm now looking forward to seeing your 30 minute paintings! I was sceptical at first as I thought that there didn't seem to be much point in rushing against the clock but my opinion has changed. It certainly concentrates the mind and if the painting works it's enormously satisfying and has the effect I feel of clearing my mind!. After all, 30 mins isn't long out of a day. Have a go :)

I agree with all the above comments Louise. It is a lovely picture - the composition is really nice and the balance of shape and colour fantastic. Well done!

Well you certainly rose to the challange, this is super. Lovely colours and great composition.

Lovely colour and such a freshness of approach, Louise, I shall certainly have a 30 minute go!

This picture is really good.Fresh, exciting and colouful.

Many thanks Julie, Val, Ruth and David!

Love your composition and your talent for colours.

I think it's great and I love the colours also Louise. I went on a workshop last year where we had to become 'looser' and quick - it's good experience but hard to do on your own.

This is a real beauty, Louise. Well done in 30 minutes. If you remember my "Coffee sketch" (id=54244), it took me longer to photograph it, loading it on my computer and post it than to make it. But then, that was a pen and wash, so: no drying time and no colours to mix. Well done here!

Many thanks Carole, Eileen and Mia!

It is absolutely brilliant Louise and I agree with all the others with their comments. I'm thinking of joining Thea with her knitting but there's a problem... I cannot knit.

This is amazing, Louise! I'm just envious you produced such a gorgeous piece in 30 minutes!

Thanks Satu and Seok!

After seeing a few 30 minute paintings here, I couldn't resist the challenge and this is the result. It certainly makes you concentrate and look closely at the subject in front of you!
