You've managed super variety in the intensity of the alizarin throughout the painting. Also, that central figure in pure viridian is a stroke of genius. Lively and fun.

Thea makes a good point about the central figure- I can just imagine this an a modern frame -Super.

Oh dear, you've raised the bar even higher! It is amazing how many different colours this mix can produce and, like Thea, I particularly like the flash of pure Veridian. I'm itching to have another go but have visitors today so it will have to wait!

As Christine says, you have produced an amazing range of hues from just those two colours. The dark background, which has slight variations in it, sets of the figures so well.

This is just super, Louise.

Works well - glad you found the idea of use; it was Fred Johnston's (I must look him up and get that spelling right!) not mine, so he deserves all the praise. It's the variety of tones this mix gives that I found really surprising, and you've exploited that here - you can get equally interesting results in oil, with the addition of a little white; and in acrylic with or without any white. Well worth trying, for anyone who has yet to do so.

Thanks Thea, Michael, Christine, Stephen, Mia and Robert. Robert, something is mentioned here and off I go, can't help it, just have to try an idea out! I was also surprised by all the different shades and just the two colours gave but wanted to add more colours to the mix! I don't use oils, never have but am guessing that you've tried out the two colours from what you say. Are you going to show us?

Haven't got the pictures any more: I did them when I read Fred's book and that was, what .... 30 years ago: he was still with us at the time. However: dammit, just for you I'll do it again! Might take me a day or two, but I can never deny a lady's wish.........

lol Robert, I must have a way with words!

Shows what you can do with just two colours, amazing really! I love the shapes of the figures and the great freedom of the painting. Well done Louise!

Not out of my system quite yet..Still trying out just the two colours, alizarin crimson and viridian. No pre drawing, straight in with the paint brush which goes to explain some of the body shapes!
