These birds always worry me on the odd occasions I meet one: they're very clever, and also very unpredictable - an apparently friendly Cockatoo can suddenly take a fancy to your finger, and they have bills like nut-crackers. Today's natural history note........ Well done for tackling a white bird in watercolour - it's the shading and tones I find difficult with this sort of thing: what colour to use is the problem, and of course how you apply it: oil is MUCH easier. Challenging yourself is good - I've often been pleasantly surprised when I've decided to paint something I knew would be difficult ... and it's certainly come off here.

really like this.

12 x 10 ins watercolour board watercolour (tubes) White acrylic ink diluted Pallette: Ivory Black, Chinese White, Payne's Grey, violet, Perm Rose, Yellow Ochre, Cerulean Blue, Burnt umber Karma is the name of the bird. I'm more used to doing birds in CPs, but recently I had a go at a black bird in gouache so thought I'd try a white bird in watercolour. Just to challenge myself as part of this year's resolution to try to face my genre/medium fears. Ref thanks to Valri Ary
