I've had this one sketched onto the canvas since before we moved house and we've been here nearly 6 years. 'One Giant Step' Acrylics 16" x 16" deep edged canvas Finished November 14 It is from a photo I took several years ago behind the Bishop's Palace in St.Davids', Wales. Of course I've adapted it a little. the ford is higher and deeper and I added the stepping stones and removed some unecessary stuff from the bridge. I'm still in infancy with using acrylics and learning as I go along. For this one I experimented with some texture pastes which I used to make the masonry and bridge rough. Then I used fluid acrylics diluted with flow improver to seep into the mortar before applying more paste on top and more acrylic colours. Then I added further paste to create a rough surface over which I drybrushed varied colours unmixed on the brush to give a weathered effect.
