Self-Portrait
Graphite, Vine Charcoal, Compressed Charcoal on Paper, 22 x 30". This weekend assignment was to do a self-portrait on "larger" paper using a mirror. It does not quite look like me, but pretty happy considering it was only my 3rd attempt at doing a self-portrait. My previous study probably resembled me a little more. First, I drew the contour with pencil, and then shaded with soft vine charcoal and compressed charcoal. Decided to keep the background simple with some sporadic marks to give it some life and movement.
