Still being hard on yourself! This isn't twee, it's bright and colourful, and the sky is especially well done. The one thing I would say is go out for a walk, take your camera and sketchbook, and paint the way the countryside looks at the moment: you may be limited in how far you can do that, by health or geography or both, but if you can get out and about, your work will benefit because you'll have more images to work from.

I agree with Robert, this is a nice cheerful painting, I like the foreground texture and shadows. Being Brits. we are very reticent of 'blowing our own trumpet' but we should try to see the good in our own work.

Thank you both so much for your comments. I will battle on for impressionism with which I am obsessed at the moment. I am not sure I can bring myself to paint outside with others watching, although I am told it is a beautiful way to paint. Maybe, one day...perhaps...but at 76 I am leaving things a bit late.

Lionel - have just commented on your last posting and meant to say ' impressionist' rather than abstract - what was I thinking! I think this one is lovely - great colours and I love the warmth in both the sky and the fields/trees. You should be pleased indeed with this one.

I can bear it Lionel - if this is anything to go by they will be really something as this will be hard to beat.

Lovely warm colours to make us feel better on this freezing day Lionel. Beautiful country scene.

I like this very much, Lionel. I think your "impressionistic style" is going very well. Beautiful view and very good composition.

Nothing twee here Lionel....I see a well planned and executed painting. I can bear any amount of this.

Nothing twee at all about this painting, Lionel - it's very well painted, and I look forward to seeing more!

This view across the fields to the houses and taking in the marvellous trees is lovely Lionel

Yet another couple of twee trees in a field. This time, I have attempted to relieve the utter boredom with a few buildings. On a brighter note, I think I may be having some luck with my pursuit of painting in the impressionist's style. Watch this space, if you can bear it.
