Really like this, Liezel, composition, colours and textures. It reminds me of Ann Blockley's work.

Really good. Great colours.

Great mark making and loose feel to this, Liiezel. Sounds an interesting technique... might have a go at that! I can hear those crows passing judgement on the days' events!

Thanks so much Jenny, I’m reading Ann’s “experimental landscapes in watercolour” and she is such an inspiration.

Thanks Richard and Thalia. These techniques are quite new to me but a lot of fun.

You’ve got some beautiful textures in this painting. Interesting to read your techniques. I love stone walls.

Lovely work, great textures. I can also see the influence of Ann Blockley 😊

Nice painting Liezel, love the loose wire fence, the foreground is reminiscent of the late John Blockley's work....I've just seen the other comments, and noticed that others have seen the family resemblance, only comparing it with John's daughter Ann's work, which has aspects of her father's style, plus her own "Feel" to her work.

The textures do indeed make for a very interesting painting.

We have these wonderful stone walls and slightly dilapidated fences all around where we live. They mark off the different farm fields and are often populated with crows in the early evening. I thought it made for a great subject, they almost look like they are catching up on the day’s events. I used a variety of techniques to depict the lush grasses, fence and stones by “sticking” some cheesecloth to my watercolour paper with gesso. Painting over this with watercolour and ink resulted in some great textures.
