Super sketch, Lewis. Like to see it painted in you unique style.

Nicely done sir ^^ I like your sea (I have yet to try drawing water in black and white) and you have got some really good darks in the foreground (how soft did you go? Any issues with spots/flakes?) I like you kept the background light too, it gives a feeling of depth. The jobs a good'un.

Look good I have one of these Lew. You have some good contrasts here. Great drawing.

Super sketch as always Lewis.

Thank Seth, David and Carole. David, the main figure was drawn mostly with 2B and 4B, the darkest blacks with 8B. The background was H and HB, drawing as lightly as I'm able (I'm a bit heavy handed). There were some spots and flakes, but not much more than I got with other pencils. I'll stick with these in future.

I love the twist in the story, Lewis, where we actually get to see Flint before the narrative begins. It's like a prequel but that's a dodgy hiding place for a treasure chest. *LOL* Wonderful drawing Brian

Great stuff Lew. I like he way you've faded the distance a way a little and got real sharp foreground. No black spot from me. Well done. Not a massive pencil user, but mine are Derwent Graphic 24 and a full range up to 9H and 9b.

A shifty character indeed, the Pirate not you Lew!!!. Super sketch and those pencils have produced some good tones.

I'm pleased you like the pencils. I also took Robert's suggestion to heart a few years ago and got some of these lovely pencils. They are a good compromise if you don't want charcoal mess too. Great pirate image.

Fantastic pencil work, Lewis, real dramatic character too! Looking forward to seeing more. Great sense of space already in it. Thanks for the report on the pencils!

Lovely definition with the pencils Lewis, I like using 2b and 4 b but not tried anything higher, might have to give these pencils a go 😀

Great drawing and thanks for showing me exactly where the treasure is. Off to catch a ship to you know where.!!

Love the detail of the see as well as the character. Well done Jim,me lad!

Your new pencils seem to be just the thing Lewis and you've achieved a really deep black too. It's funny how we continue using the same things, it's good to try out something new every now and again. By the way, this picture is brilliant!

It’s always interesting from you Lewis whatever you take on.

You have a great imagination and superb drawing skills. Very enviable talents Lewis.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. It's about the most basic thing you can do - pencil and paper. (Apart from those of us who draw with twigs etc). I love it.

Brilliant drawing Lewis, pencil and paper are all you need!

I had to get some new pencils, and bought some Mars Lumographs.
