I'm with you on Dickens and all his characters and particularly their names - Dickens would have been very pleased with this drawing.

Mr Pickwick is one of my favourite characters. This is great. Played by Henry James Hayter in the 1952 film. He was the original wonderful voice of Mr Kiplings cakes. This bring back great memories 👏

Superb Lew, such magnificent characters you portray.

Having seen this on the Forum thread I was hoping that you would post it on the gallery for all to enjoy. They ought to reissue the works of Dickens with illustrations by Cooper.

Another of my favourites Lew… so superbly captured!

Really good, just how you imagine Mr Pickwick !

You really bring your Dickensian characters to life Lewis. This is so animated and I love the smug, satisfied look on his face.

This should be among the top drawings on your forum topic, Superb character skillfully done.

Another brilliant drawing of a great Dickens character, full of lovely detail.

Another great character!

You can really relate with this wonderful character Lewis. Just how you would imagine Mr Pickwick.

A superb Mr Pickwick Lewis.

Beautiful characterisation once again Lew.

That expression on his face speaks so much Lewis.

So well illustrated Lewis, I guess he’s now off to the White Hart Inn!

Superbly drawn and soo Mr Pickwick.

Thank you so much for your kind comments.

Captured perfectly Lewis.

Just how I imagine him Lewis.

How I see this character. Pencil. HB,2B and 4B. Apparently this was Dickens first novel, although it was initially published in serial form. A huge success. I just love the characters and names he comes up with. This was posted in my forum thread about graphite and charcoal drawings, but not everyone reads the forum, so I'm posting it here.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
