This is good. And that's a FACT! Young sir. Beging your pardon..... if I may.

So very factual, Lewis! Great characterisation, I'm no Dickens expert, though!

I would imagine him like this too and your depiction is spot on!

Just love your Dickens' characters, Lewis! Another very good one which always brings a smile to my face. Please keep them coming!!

I’m far from being a Dickens expert. I’ve only read ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ and a book of short stories. I do watch all the films…couldn’t find one for ‘Hard Times’. Just love the characters and the names he comes up with.

A superb depiction Lew…

I don't recall the Gradgrind comment but if this is the result I am glad I made it and spurred you into action. This is a splendidly no-nonsense, stern Victorian school superintendent.

Love the book shaped face and bloodshot eyes. But that is my opinion, but the fact that he has a crooked nose cannot be denied.

A superb and powerful character Lew .

Outstanding artwork Lew , the face is brilliant.

Your drawings of Dickens characters are excellent Lewis.

Great picture, those eyes - so scary.

Absolutely first class Lewis. Love the pursed lips and narrow set eyes, not to mention his tremendous nose.

I've always loved the surnames Dickens concocted for so many of his characters and this terrific drawing reflects the name perfectly Lewis.

Love his name…..great characterisation Lewis.

Great character!

Very nicely done indeed!

A while back I posted some random sketches. Tony said one reminded him of Mr Gradgrind. Not being a Dickens expert I had to look him up. A sour school governor who had no time for fun and fancies....just facts. This is how I imagine him. Watercolour and colored pencil.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
