Well, it's posted, and I can read the text on my PC. There are several versions of this story. In some the witch is a 'wise woman'. The worm's size varies...it's always huge, it some versions it's big enough to wrap itself around a hill. He's not always a knight...just Lord Lambton's son...so I've made him a knight as he went to the Crusades. At that time they would be dressed similar to the Normans. How do these myths start? Was there really something destroying the livestock? If so, who thought up the worm? Interesting that all the stories start with the son fishing when he should be in church. So just another morality tale. Apparently, it's based on a real family...the Lambtons, who lived near Durham. The worm was caught in the River Wear.

I could read it on my PC too. In these days of political correctness you may have to rewrite it though. Someone might say that slaying a dog just wasn´t done. PS - I like the artwork.

Great legend. There’s a pub in Durham called The Lambton Worm which I have often visited. As you say there are many versions of the legend. Great illustrative work Lewis. Love the ugly worm.

Terrific work Lew. I can read it easily and the whole thing is professionally done. Nice work. The text style suits it fine.

Sang this song many times in the Marsden Inn Folk Club, years ago. Great illustration, Lewis, and a great myth (and song). There are a few versions, you're quite right. Bri

Interesting piece of artwork allied to some very skilful drawing.

That's a brilliant piece of art work and I also love the legend.

So glad you posted this! It brings everything to life. Great!

A superb page, love the myth, great work Lew.

Macabre story and a great piece of art work! I can read it perfectly well on my laptop.

Thanks to all for your generous feedback. I'm glad it's been readable so far...not sure how it will work on i-pads, I don't have one.

Interesting legend, and a great illustration, Lewis, love the rich colours.

Meant to add, I always use my iPad to log into POL and it's fine on that.

Thanks Jenny, it's a mix of watercolour and inktense...the most vivid are inktense.

Beautiful work Lewis, this is amazing!

Beautifully done Lewis, the illustrations are jewel-like. And you've started me singing..." Wish't lads, haad yer gob...."

First time hearing this tale Lewis, beautifully illustrated.

Your superb paintings really bring this text to life Lewis.

Excellent Lewis, with a great narrative.

I LOVE YOUR WORK OUTSTANDING.

I like illustrating myths, this time , on a whim, I decided to do it like a book page. The pictures were painted in mixed media, I assembled it and did the text in Photoshop. It occurs to me, depending on what device you view it, that you may not be able to read the text (if you want to)...so here's hoping you can.
