While I was confused, young Ethel knew exactly what she wanted to do. Obviously I don't remember the conversation, but this is the bones of it. She did hope to get to University, and she did want to become a writer. Being an author, or an artist, seemed like pipe-dreams for working class kids back then. I wasn't WORRIED about it, just confused, once I settled on leaving I felt just dandy. At age 16 I hadn't considered that I was dealing with life-changing ideas...I just wanted to get a job and earn some money. Just like everyone else.
About the Artist
Lewis Cooper
Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
