Experiment - SPLISH SPLASH all gone wrong. by Lewis Cooper

I feel the heat of a nightclub and the lady singing the blues Lew.

What is that they say, 'All success starts with failure'? though I am notes sure I would describe the end result as a failure. Besides, you had fun doing it, surely the best reason for experimenting.

A experiment that the artist is not happy with , but it’s definitely turned out well. Yes it’s different , and not your usual style, that makes it more interesting Lew, stop being so tough on yourself, I know you set a high standard and this hasn’t lowered that one bit .

Thanks for your comments. Finding it hard to do much in this heat, I thought I’d try this. I’ve taken one wall off my shed, so it’s more like a ramshackle arbour now…that’s where I did this. This ink was drying too fast, I was sloshing more water on, spraying it with a mister. Great fun. The nearest I’ll get to action painting . I’m not too disappointed, or being hard on myself, it’s ok ish, but it isn’t great…thought it was worth showing.

It’s a cracker Lewis. It says VOICE.

Great drawing, love the colour.

I think this has worked really well, despite the rather unpredictable nature of inks!

Oil paint now… mixed media

I think it's turned out really well and what fun!

I do like what you have done here, and as usual a great drawing.

I like this very much Lewis, the two musicians really make it work so well and ink flow is superb.

I've seen art made with 'flowing' paint. Thought I'd try, but with coloured inks. Control goes out the window. I used masses of water but it was still drying too fast in the heat. Must admit it was fun sloshing wet ink around (I now have a multi-coloured shed floor), but it's not a great result. Worth a try though.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
