Gauguin by Lewis Cooper
Homage to Gauguin. He's taken from an old photo. The idea was to have segments of his paintings around him. But these are small (almost like miniatures), so I haven't slavishly copied them, they are more a suggestion of his work. Quickly went off the boil on this (too much in thrall to reference material, unavoidable, I suppose), but I like bits of it, so I'm posting it. At least I finished it. 16 x 12 inches. Watercolour- pen.
About the Artist
Lewis Cooper
Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
