Rey different and interesting Leo.

Interesting concept. But wouldn’t the give birth to mermen? And how do they give birth with their knees together?

@Linda, they can make their knees apart when they need to. Otherwise they would have become extinct long ago.

It’s a very interesting concept- a take on the Madonna and Child theme? I like the way you have painted it - full of energy yet quite a peaceful painting too. It’s a real story!

Thank you Chrissie, indeed I initially thought of the Madonna-with-child concept for a mermaid, as I thought it is shame that mermaids are not taken seriously. We saw them on couple of occasions in the South Pacific region when I served on a nuclear submarine just 25 years ago. People's idea of mermaids mostly comes from a H. Anderson tale, but I doubt he really saw them, he just drew everything from his imagination. They aren't born from the sea foam at all (he mixed them up with Venus who was). Fathers of mermaids' children are usually sailors. So I realised that just mermaid with a child will not be enough and more needs to be said about their life. So I elaborated a bit more.
