Well, what a remarkable portrait, such a steely, determined expression. Your portraits are seriously good!

You really do have a wonderful way of making eyes very compelling. Another wonderful portrait done in your super style.

Remarkable eyes and his hat isn't foppish it's rakish !

Stunning portrait Kim, the eyes are hypnotic.

Lovely portrait as always with you Kim, your skill with watercolour is outstanding pure and simple, why don't you do a short film of how you go about doing these so well? I am sure Thea has mentioned it to you before, it would be fascinating to see and there would definatlely be a great deal of interest in it! Really good portraiture is always great to see and how it is done, and how we can all do it a bit better by observing others at work is always worth seeing, so come on Kim your film career beckons!!

Another great portrait Kim.

I love the intense expressions you captivate in your portraits Kim, so appealing. Great shades of colours too.

It's all been said. Certainly hypnotic and compelling. I hardly dare touch my watercolours anymore!!!??

Beautiful man beautiful portrait. His expression is so captivating and those eyes.....wow!

You can just about see the strategic shrewdness behind those eyes. Stunning piece, Kim, so lively and powerful.

Wow....those eyes.

You're all very sweet to find time to comment. As far as technique is concerned, I do attempt to be very specific when I paint portraits. Not in the sense that they're 'detailed', but I look long and hard at a face and identify first of all why it attracted me and secondly, exactly how it's assembled - what the tiny details are that distinguish it from other faces. Stare, stare. stare, then get to work with a simple line drawing. I'll show you the rest of this painting if you're interested. Oh - and yes Debs, rakish is the word!

Awesome painting and brilliant technique. I love your use of colours which doesn't follow convention e.g. bright blue under the lips instead of a dark shadow, the occasional splatter of water here and there creating a diffused or magnified area, your use of sparkling accents of colour dotted here and there etc. I have looked through your portfolio and think you could sell these for a great price as they are brilliant. Q - Do you sell your work?

- is the title of this gentleman's autobiography. Guido Rey was his name, and despite the foppish outfit, he was a seriously good climber and mountain guide in the inter-war period.
