So sad Kim and this is a lovely memorial to her, what a shame he did not get to see it, she would have loved it, it is a superb portrait

A wonderful portrait Kim. I'm mesmerized by her eyes, so full of the wisdom that comes with old age.Your best yet in my humble opinion.

How wonderful that you were able to paint this lovely portrait before she died. The thing about paintings is they stand as a permanent reminder of a moment in time. This is what this portrait does and says about Ines and is even more touching because you did an amazing job of capturing the character and worldly experience of this lovely lady. What an amazingly long life she had.

Extraordinary, captivating portrait and such skilful use of medium. I am full of admiration for your work!

Thanks for looking again - and apologies for re-posting. I just thought that you'd be interested in hearing of her poignant passing given your positive reaction to the original posting a few weeks ago.

Wonderful 'life-affirming' portrait Kim, what a shame she didn't get to see it, but a lovely memory all the same.

What a wonderful character, beautifully painted.

Just marks on paper and yet how well this lovely old lady's character has been captured.

Fantastic portrait

Your perception of skin tone is perfect - the portraits are my favourite, you really capture the character of the individual.

Bravo - You did it with great love !!!!

As a colleague"s opinion-dear Kim-Yr strongest -it's Yr portraits- I like portraits as well by doing -and guess know the approach to it ---Yu re on the right way and spirit-catching first a "psychological face" of portrait person-this is a most important to get a a life portrait in fact--( in my way )

Yep. It was me. Lovely stuff in your portfolo, Kim. I like this one particularly, as do your other admirers. It tempts me to try watercolour, but. then again I have said that before. In truth I'm just terrified of it's technical challenges and the extent that, in the wrong hands, it can be hideous. Pastels are so much more forgiving.

Sadly the lovely Ines (pronouced Ee-ness) passed away a few days after she sat for me. A lovely patient lady who'd probably seen pretty well everything there was to see in her long life. Except perhaps her portrait. Requiescat in pace.
