Drawing ink. The children of Lir is a classic Irish story of four children who were turned into swans by their stepmother, Eva, to wander endlessly on the waters of Lough Derravaragh. Based on an illustration by Joan Kiddell-Monroe, in 'Irish Sagas and Folk-Tales', by Eileen O'Faolain. I chose this book as an English Language prize at school in 1961.
