It's a smashing painting Ken, I love the stillness of the water and as you say, the stonework is really good.

All is achieved Ken, outstanding

Excellent Ken, both your handling of the paint and your draftsmanship. That great patch of sky reflection is amazing.

Wow. The light on Theo's water is quite dazzling and the stillness superb.

lovely atmosphere & detail

Pure class and skill. A master at work.

Wonderful painting, Ken, great stuff.

The treatment of the water is great!

This is a beauty Ken . You produced a simple but superb work here , I love the reflections

This is so calm and serene, very atmospheric. Love the detailed boats and of course the textured wall Ken.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments - much appreciated!

This is an inner part of Dysart Harbour on the East Coast of Scotland, depicted on a quiet evening as the light fades. The water is very still, reflecting the colours of the sky. A half-dozen working boats are moored along the harbourside. I was aiming for a forlorn atmosphere if forlorn's the right word - end of an era as much as end of a day. I concentrated on contrasts: lights/darks, bright and dull colours, smooth and rough textures. Believe it or not, I think I was more pleased with the way the dirty, crumbling stonework turned out than I was with any other part of the painting.
