This is a winter woodland landscape. We were walking that day, with the dog, up into Lea Woods from Cromford in Derbyshire. December was mild and there was a lot of colour in the woods. December seems to be a special time, before the world shifted on its axis. It was the last month where things seemed relatively ‘normal’. Nothing grounds me like nature, and painting this has been wonderful to reconnect to the land.
