Dark skies at Ballintoy

striking! very surrealistic due to its starkness of colours.

Excellent contrasts, a subject that stands out over the landscape, and can be seen many miles away! I particularly like the viewpoint that you chose and the colours used.

So many good paintings on POL lately, I've just about commented to a standstill - but this one (actually, like all of your paintings) stands out amongst the best. Wonderful contrasts here, and not obvious ones either - ie, I get the sense this is an observed scene rather than something made up because it would look striking. And I do like your palette: is that Winsor Blue? (Aka pthalocyanine, pthalo, Monestial, and Lord knows what else....) I've got a feeling that it isn't, but blowed if I know what it is.... Gissa clue?

This view never ceases to inspire me. The white church stands out against skies that more often than not are dark and heavy. This is an oil, image size 20" x 16 "
