Lovely work Karen - fingers crossed for the weather!

Nice work Karen. Haven’t been there in yonks. If it stops raining , what about Beaumaris?

Really nice Karen. I do like a castle!

ThIs is so skilfully painted Karen. Hope the weather is kind to you from now on.

Thank you Paul, Sarah, Andrew, Tessa and Carole, and for the good wishes concerning the weather. Hopefully heading to Anglesey tomorrow Andrew. 🤞

Your pen and wash paintings all have a feeling of presence Karen, you have a lovely style of pen work.

Thank you very much Fiona; that's really encouraging.

Nicely done indeed.

Makes a change to see a castle, which still has water in its moat. Delightful painting, Karen.

Hi Karen, Thank you for your positive comment on my last effort! Ref your enquiry regarding the trees and reflections……I used watercolour for the coloured reflections ie blue etc, but for the black areas and trees I used a black chinagraph. Don’t know if you’ve ever come across these pencils, I think they only come in black and red and they are for office use really. But used over the grain of the watercolour paper they have an interesting effect. They don’t tend to smudge or dissolve when painted over either. Hope this answers your query Karen.

Thank you Spencer.

Sketch started on recent visit to the White Castle in Monmouthshire which is one of the of castles known as the 'Three Castles' which includes Skenfrith and Grosmont. Just finished the sketch while we wait for the rain to lift while holidaying in North Wales.... hopefully so I can find some other castle to paint maybe! 😀
