A very successful painting: the horror of the bushfires seems a world away - but it will regenerate in time, whereas lives lost can never be replaced. This painting could be a memorial, and would be a very fitting one.

The grass has come back, but the trees in the hills were so badly burnt,it was 48"celsius,and the wind was over 200k.p.h ,they are still black. The hills are all still brown from the distance,in stead of blue.I must say they look magic in the late light when the sun hits them, they glow.My mum watches them from where she lives in an aged-care facility,of an evening. We were very lucky, when the fire started it was 100 yards away from them.the fire brigade is just down the road, and were on stand-by to evacuate all the elderly people,we had rushed to their aid,and it was terrifying to watch as the wind was blowing the fire away from them, and rushed up the hill SOOO fast it was scary. That fire burnt for two weeks without mercy! Summer will never be the same again for me.

Lake Hyland,Mathison Park,Churchill,Vic.Aust. This peaceful scene was b/4 the horrendous fires here last year, where many home, livestock and lives were lost. The helicopter dragged this lake continuously for days, fighting the bush fires.
