Richmond is steeped in history - the canal separating the Thames from the Old Deer Park, with its obelisks and outline of the original meridian, presents a lot of motifs for painting. The footpath from Richmond to Kew is a favourite route for our walks, when high tide doesn't make it impossible. In the summer the vegetation is jungle like and a haven for animals and birds.
