A dramatic painting, Jorgens! HMS Belfast has a large series of my paintings on board of figures in different Naval uniforms from the UK, New Zealand and Australia. They were done for a book on Navy uniforms of the Second World War and bought by the Imperial War Museum which is in charge of HMS Belfast.

Tnx for telling me, Alix - will have look next I'm on board operating from the BWO

On the 6 June 1944 HMS Belfast, a City Class cruiser, supported the allied landing in Normandy. It was the leading flagship at Juno Beach and reputedly opened the supporting barrage. Today HMS Belfast is moored in the London Pool, close to Tower Bridge - and is well worth a visit. My painting will be used as the motif of a so-called QSL-card, i.e. a confirmation of radio contact, for all contacts with HMS Belfast's radio station GB70DDAY during June 2014
