Well if you're just beginning to grapple, you're doing really well... Your teacher would appear to have exactly the right idea. Stick with him: good tutors are rarer than you might think...

Well done. This is really lovely. You are very lucky to learn this way, I envy you!

A super painting, I'm wondering whether to give watercolour a try...perhaps next year. Great colours in this and it all works very well. light, shade, composition.

Stunning.

I missed this one of yours Julie, you've done a brilliant job. Love the tree's and reflections.

JUlie: you seem to be doing fine, keep it up, Well done: Jame

I too missed this one Julie, haven't been logging on so often due to family health problems. I love it, love the reflections in the water and it is so fresh. Congratulations also on your competition win, look forward to seeing it in the Magazine. Have a lovely christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and your family. I do hope we can meet up sometime next year after getting through the health problems.

Loving it. Beautiful simplicity.

I have been through your galleries Julie and I and sure you did not drift as you put into painting. You was defiantly lead that way. You have such a good sense of colour and composition. An able to take on any subject. Ok you say this watercolour is a copy but you have handled the medium very well indeed. Also Julie I would like to thank you for you comment placed on the painting That Sunday Morning. Why? because you really looked at it and made a considered response. One comment like that is worth 10 lovelies of nice's. Then again I forgive them because there is so much to see on this excellent site. Thank you. John

I am just beginning to grapple with watercolour, learning with a teacher called Anthony Avery in Ross on Wye. This image is painted by me, but is from one of Tony's originals. He paints the image alongside mine and I have been copying - I find I am absorbing so much information this way in respect of composition, application, colour theory etc. Learning by doing,.

About the Artist
Julie Bosley

I drifted into painting following four years of City and Guilds creative Embroidery where I found I was enjoying the back-up art work almost more than the embroidery. I did an A level in art and design in 2006, and then joined a life painting class. For the last three years I have belonged to a…
